It has been a year since you left us...

We think of you everyday. We miss you every day. We pray for you everyday. We love you every day.
With eternal love and devotion,
 Zachary & Wayne

Dear Sharon:
You are on my mind, in my heart, and in my prayers today and every day. How I miss you and love you.
There is a lot of talk about angels and all they can do. I know you are the angel in our lives.
You are near us day, night and especially whenever things seem trying and difficult. As our angel, I know you are taking special care of us as we can feel your gentle presence day by day, just as I hope you feel all the loving thoughts of everyone who misses you and cares so much about you.

All my Love,
Mom

Mothers Day 2009

Thinking of Sharon is a daily occurrence since she passed away. Today brings back memories of waking Sharon with the smell of freshly baked Cinnamon Rolls and Coffee, and later, if she wanted, eggs and hash browns. It wasn’t much, but that little gesture and a nice Mother’s day card filled her heart with happiness and contentment in the knowledge that we actually did think about her on Mother’s Day and while it may have seemed we took her for granted during the remainder of the year, she knew our love for her was boundless.
We miss her today, as we do every day. And we think of her especially today, because she was a good mom and the love she had for her son was like no one else’s. She always put her son first and never let anything stand in her way when it came to his care.

Today Sharon would not just be a mother; she would also be a daughter. She would be sure her mother would have gotten her mother’s day card early enough to enjoy and display. Sharon always took the time to find just the right card for every occasion throughout the year, as anyone who has received a card from Sharon would know. However, on Mother’s Day, she took a little extra time to find that special card that would convey to her mother how much she loved and cared for her. Later In the day Sharon would be sure to phone her mother to tell her Happy Mother’s Day and visit to share time with her. While these visits became commonplace and expected, they produced wonderful memories that will be with us the rest of our lives. Just as the memory of Sharon will be.

Happy Mother’s Day Sharon

Below are entries of the Archived Guest Book. It was archived due to some technical problems related to spamming, and was replaced with the current guest book on 12-05-2009. I am sorry to say however, that the last retrievable post was from Sharon’s best friend Nancy on 07-20-2009. Any entries made after that until today could not be recovered.

Sharon,

Today marks a year since your passing. Somtimes I still can't believe you are gone. I hold on to the fact that I still feel you here with me in spirit. Tonight I was taking a walk on the beach and thoughts of the talks we had and the times we shared together were running through my mind.

Miss & Love You

My mother sent me my 1978 Mustang Yearbook from Harlee Middle School. I went to school with Sharon in 7th-9th grade. I moved on and became a Chiropractor over 20 years ago. I started looking online at the Classmates.com and noted a message from a classmate that Sharon had died and no other details were given. By mere chance I came across this webpage and was taken back by the sheer love that surrounded her and what she gave back. I hope my words give a smile to know that she was always a wonderful and nice person. I don't remember the exact reason why, but she wrote in my yearbook that she was sorry she couldn't go to Busch Gardens with me, but maybe some other time. This shows her heart and never forget how genuine and caring she is, even from a stranger from the past. I wish all of you God's peace and comfort in this time.

Warm Regards,

Today marks two months since Sharon has been gone, and not one day goes by that I don't think about her. I think about all of the wonderful family get togethers we have all shared together....and there are so many of them! We have been together for every Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving, birthdays, other holidays, parties....the list goes on and on. I am so glad that we all went to the Jersey Shore last summer! Who would have known at the time how much that vacation would mean to all of us now. We had such a great time and lots of good laughs to remember! It is amazing how much the simpliest memory of a conversation or time I have spent with Sharon means to me now that she is no longer here. I cherish those memories. I still can't believe that this has happened...it is definitely the hardest thing I have gone through. Seeing my mother in law, Betty, Wayne, Zachary, Joe and our children have to lose someone so special to all us so soon….much too soon. I'm so thankful that we are a close family and we have each other to lean on. I want Betty, Wayne and Zachary to know that I am always here for them. It breaks my heart when they are sad. I love you guys! Always remember that Sharon loved you all so much! She loved all of her family (aunts, uncles, cousins) and her special friend, Nancy. She was and is so proud of you Zachary and wants the best for you now and always! You are a great kid! I wish that I could "fix" all that has happened, but I know that I can't. Sharon will always have a special place in my heart and she will never be forgotten....Thank you Wayne for putting together such a wonderful website!! Hugs!

To the Family-
I was so sad to hear about Sharon from Wendi. I am not much when it comes to what words I need to write, but here are the words to a song that I think are very comforting during this time. The name of the song is Homesick and is sung by the group Mercy Me.

You're in a better place, I've heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you
But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same
Cause I'm still here so far away from home

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

In Christ, there are no goodbye
And in Christ, there is no end
So I'll hold onto Jesus with all that I have
To see you again
To see you again

And I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

I've never been more homesick than now

You are all in my prayers!
Blessed by Him,

Toni Weaver (Wendi's sister)

It is been difficult for me to bring myself to this webpage to write about my cousin Sharon and compose myself enough to comment to my cousin Joey and my Aunt Betty Lou. I have composed silent letters and pondered what to say to my dear aunt and cousin at the loss of their sister and beloved daughter. I am still frankly in disbelief and overcome to tears every time I come to write or think of her and our loss. What can one say?

Being the oldest cousin I knew Sharon to be a sparkle, a generous spirit that brightens a room. She was thoughtful, kind, considerate, beautiful and fun. A person you wanted to be around. My sisters Allison and Nanette shared wonderful memories with her and I at the times I visited Florida.

While walking on the beach in Connecticut the week after her service I thought of everything that transpired over the two weeks and cried. I tried to picture across the ocean where is Sharon? I needed to think of something positive as Sharon wouldn’t want us to be like this. Heck she didn’t want a service. So, I pondered where would Sharon go? My answer was 311 Buffalo Avenue, Paterson, N.J. a place where everyone showed up and dropped in mostly on Sunday. My aunt and mother come from a large Italian family. My grandfather was one of 12 children! A typical Italian Sunday dinner was where everyone showed up to share spaghetti, meatballs, sausage salad, and bread to pay respect to their mother. Believe me it was a fabulous place to be because it was the warmth and acceptance and love that permeated the house. It was a place my sister Donna and I begged to be dropped off at for long weekends spent with the Great Aunts. So, I pictured Sharon seated at the table with all the Great Aunts, Uncles our Grand parents, Pop-Pop and Big Grandma her dad Uncle Bob sharing stories, eating, laughing and reminiscing and saving a place for the rest of us at the table. She just got there earlier. She is surrounded by all the wonderful people we had the pleasure to know she is taken into the comfort and love of the moment in time. I know my mother and aunt can picture those precious moments. Maybe it will bring them some comfort. It does me. Perhaps my father can dig up a picture of that large table in the basement to place on this webpage.

I can never take the place of being a sister or daughter to my aunt or cousin but I hope that they know that I am there for them. I love them both, they are part of my history, my life and my heart.

Please try to find peace and cherish your wonderful memories of the bright star we had the brief pleasure to know. Love Lucretia

I've known Sharon for a short time when I worked for the county. We had our little chats during break time. It's hard to lose someone so dear but I do know that Sweet Jesus will fill in the emptiness, there is no other way. The photos of your family during the Memorial Video were touching.

We just lost our niece who just turned 30 years old to cancer. Every new day is a precious gift from our Lord abundantly filled with His new mercies.

We will continue to pray for your family.

In Christ,

The video was beautiful. I did not know Sharon, however, she was in my prayers, I felt connected because my daughter-in-law also suffered from Hotchkins. Now my prayers are to you Betty Lou and to her husband and son and brother. May you all have the strength and find happiness and peace in the fact that God "loaned" her to all of you and perhaps because she was so special called her "home". Again my sympathy and prayers. Christine and I are very sorry to hear of the loss of such a great thread in the spool of life. I am so glad I had a part in driving her to key west for Wayne and Sharon to meet.
Wayne, you have been so strong through the things life has dealt you and I admire your persistence in moving forward. I cannot image your experience and can only hope Sharon watches over you and guides you through your continued journey. May peace be with.

It has been nearly 2 weeks since Sharon has passed and I finally have found the strength to write. I have great memories of my sister from our childhood through our adult years. Such an unselfish person, Sharon always wanted to do something for others before herself. It was so nice to hear such wonderful things about my sister at her service from friends and coworkers. I wasn't surprised, she was a good person and sometimes as a sibling you don't realize the impact someone has on others. You tend to take it for granted. And that's what I did....I took my sister for granted. I assumed that I would see her next week or could call her later. Now she's not around for me to see or to call and that stinks. Wayner,
A few weeks ago when I saw you and Sharon I must say that I was scared when I first saw her because I thought she might knock me out for not coming over to see her thru some of her tougher times.
But no, typical Sharon gave me that bright smile and warm hug that she has always had.
I have wondered many times since her calling to paradise if that was Gods way of her saying goodbye?
I need not tell you but for others to know thick or thin her love for you shined brightly.
To the "ZACKSTER" your Mom was the bomb!
Your Mom was just plain proud of you. Routinely, she bragged on you about sports etc.
Every memory of your Mom should make you smile.
Wayne I love ya three...............David + Sandy
P.S. Zack Sandy says she will see you at the office.........lol.

My fondest memory of Sharon was the very first time we met. Her smile comforted me and I knew she was different from most people. She was kind, warm hearted and always seemed to say just the right thing to make your day extra special. Wayne, my thoughts and prayers are with you. You will always have an angel on your shoulder.

I almost can't remeber a timewhen there was not a Sharon in our lives. Now there is a tremendous hole in our hearts. The kindest and sweetest person on the face of this earth has left us for a better place. Zach and Wayne, you have been through so much. We can’t imagine your pain as ours is overwhelming. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Zach, Bettie and Joe. There was no better friend, no better confident, no better person to put a smile on your face. She lit up every room she ever walked into. Sharon placed all others before herself. She loved her family more than you can imagine. We will forever cherish the memory of Chistmas mornings when you guys would come over to the house to have mamosa's to start the day, going out with the gang or just hanging out.
The world is an emptier place without her. Heaven is a much brighter place with her arrival. Rest in peace our best friend. Until we all meet again....

I was blessed to know and love Sharon.More than a friend, she seemed like a sister. We shared everything with each other and because of that, I know how dearly she loved Wayne and every member of her family. Zack made her life complete. We shared a million wonderful moments together. During the tough times you could always count on her resounding optimism. Sharon brought sunshine wherever she went. I wish I could tell her one more time how much I love her, that she will never be forgotten and that I will always carry her in my heart. I know God always has a plan though it's hard for me to understand. One thing is certtain, sitting next to God is one special little impish angel with startling blue eyes and she will watch over us forever.
Until we meet again,

I will always remember my cousin Sharon, from the day she was born to my Aunt Betty Lu and Uncle Bob Steinbach.
I remember the summer of 1964 in Seaside New Jersey, Sharon was just six to seven months old.
I asked my Aunt Betty Lu if  I can hold the baby, her response was are your hands clean.
We shared many more family get togethers when they visited us in New Jersey and Connecticut.
In August of 1976, my to oldest sisters and I took a trip to Sarasota,
Florida to visit Aunt Betty Lu, Uncle Bob, Sharon and Joe.
That was the most memorable time spent with my aunt, uncle and cousins. From that day to the present,
I knew that I would make my life in Florida, to be closer
to my aunt and cousins. I also enjoyed the
holidays during Thanksgiving and Christmas with my Aunt betty lu, My Parents,
Sharon, Wayne, Zachary, Joe, Wendi, Ashley and Michael.
The Holidays will not be the same with the loss of my dearest cousin Sharon.
There will always be an emptiness in my heart for the loss of my cousin Sharon.
A few weeks ago, I made a trip to Sarasota, to visit my Aunt Betty Lu. On Friday morning
June 21st Aunt Betty Lu and I picked up
Sharon and Zachary to take her to the doctors.
After the doctor visit, Aunt Betty Lu, Sharon, Zachary, and I went to Applebee's for lunch.
After lunch my Aunt drove Sharon and Zachary home. I hug and kissed her good bye,
not knowing that it would be the last time that I would see her alive.

I am really going to miss my cousin Sharon. Although we didn't see each other often, when we did get together, she always made me feel as though we had never been apart. We may have been separated by miles, but Sharon was never far from my thoughts.

We had a lot of fun when she stayed with us in Connecticut, which was about 25 years ago. It was a brief stay, but we were always going somewhere. I think that was when we really had a chance to get to know one another. On one occasion, our Pop pop came up from Florida (as he did every year); he volunteered to drive us to a bar in town. Boy, were we scared to the point of laughter as he took wide corners and stopped at nothing in particular. That incident was retold occasionally, but only Sharon could tell it in such a way that would make it laughable.

I know it is cliché to say that there are no words to express my sorrow. However, the words I am looking for have eluded me. It is all very painful and upsetting for all of us who loved Sharon. I haven’t fully come to terms with it, and I regret that I was unable to be with my family during such a trying ordeal. I want all of you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I will always keep her memory fresh in my mind.

I love you all.

My sweet and precious cousin, Sharon, will always be in my heart as long as I live, and her spirit will remain alive within all of us as we remember her and think of her. Sharon was a vibrant person who seemed to light up any room she entered. She loved life and loved people. When she looked at you, she seemed to look right through you, and her eyes seemed to sparkle. This was how I remember her the last time I saw her and from all the childhood memories I recall from my youth. I will miss her very much, but I will never forget her warm and fun-loving personality. God Bless her soul and spirit. Love, Donna

To the Wyckoff Family,
I was so devastated to hear about Sharon's passing. Although I did not work directly with Sharon at MSO, I did know her very well. She was such a happy and smart person. I remember her working in Records and always willing to help others with any problems that occurred. I remember when her father died, I had made Peanut Butter Pies and took them to her and Wayne's house. She couldn't wait to call me and tell me her brother came to her house and took claim on both of them. I knew she really didn't care, she loved her family so much and it showed in her actions and everyday living. I also remember when Zach was born. Her and I were pregnant together and we so enjoyed discussing things with each other about our babies and the great feeling it was to be a new mommy. Sharon loved each and everyone of her family.

Sharon will be sadly missed by alot of people. My heart goes out to the family. Sharon was always a sweet person and friendly to everyone. I am thankful I had the pleasure to have known such a special lady. I am so sorry for your loss and will keep all of you in
my prayers.

To Wayne, Zach and the rest of Sharon's family: I saw Sharon a couple of years ago and asked how you were doing.
She told me that Zach was growing up and was a real gentleman even for his young age and Wayne and she were doing fine and that they still loved each other very much. I worked with Sharon at MSO. One year for her birthday I had the local oldies station make a "bogus birthday call" to her. The DJ pretended he was an offender trying to get a copy of his report. Although he tried, Sharon was as cool as cucumber denying his request. By the end of the conversation, she figured out it was a joke. I taped it and gave it to her as a gift. She always had a smile, even through tough times. I know she will be missed.

To Sharon's family:

My sorrow extends to you from the deepest of my heart, Sharon, and I were high school friends and shared many memories of those wonderful carefree days.
We had so many parties, trips on the bus to the beach, then road trips.. What fun we had... I was so shocked to learn of her passing, Life gets in the way most often when you get older and one loses touch with an old friend. But, that never means one loses the thoughts.
My blessings go out to each and all, as we mourn a very special person whom will live in our hearts forever!

Wayne, Zach, Betty, Joe & Wendi,
You are all in my thoughts & prayers at this time.
I talked with Sharon quite a lot when she first found out she was ill. She had the best spirit about the whole thing and was like
"lets just get on with the treatments".
She had a wonderful sense of humor & was one of the kindest people I have met.
My sister Nancy loved Sharon as if she was truly her sister.
My son Justin had a special friendship with Sharon also.
She will be greatly missed, but we will have the many wonderful memories of all the time she spent with our family.
God now has one more Angel to look down upon us all.
Love,
Teresa Selph (Collard)

Wayne & Zachary,

Sharon would love this such special tribute to her. I find myself signing on to it frequently. I think it will bring comfort to many. The songs you picked are perfect.

I will always be there for you & Zachary. I know Sharon would have wanted that.

Much Love, Nancy

Dear Aunt Betty Lou, Wayne, Zachary, Joey, Wendi, Ashley, and Michael:

I am sorry I could not been with you in person but know that I am there in spirit.
I will always love and miss my cousin Sharon.   She was so much fun to be with.
She was beautiful, smart, generous, always smiling, and like Wayne said, loved to dance.
I will always cherish those moments with her forever.

Love always,

Nanette, Tim, and Timmy
